Dual Enrollment

91³Ô¹ÏÍø University is pleased to offer a program of Dual Enrollment for area students who wish to take a college course for credit while still enrolled in high school. High school students wishing to take a course at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø University must submit an application for Dual Enrollment and meet the prerequisites listed below.  

It is important to note that Dual Enrollment students understand the academic commitment that they are making by enrolling in college classes. Enrollment in classes begins a student’s official college transcript, and 91³Ô¹ÏÍø’s transcript will be requested by any other university to which the student applies. Additionally, course registration priority is given to current 91³Ô¹ÏÍø students if there is limited seat availability.  

  1. Students must submit an official high school transcript and must have a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or higher.
  2. Students must submit a letter of permission from a high school counselor or administrator indicating how the student will be able to handle the increased academic load.
  3. Students must , including a $60 application fee, to the Office of Undergraduate Admission.
  4. Students must be in their junior or senior year of high school.
 
  • Fall Semester -- August 15
  • Spring Semester -- December 15
  • Summer Term Session A -- April 15
  • Summer Term Session B -- June 10
 
  1. Fall and Spring Terms:
    • Dual Enrollment students in a high school with access to Washington State’s Running Start program may enroll in one or two available* courses** per fall or spring terms in the following departments only:
      • Mathematics
      • Computer Science
      • Modern or Classical Languages
    • Dual Enrollment students enrolled in a high school without access to Washington State’s Running Start program may enroll in up to two available and appropriate*** courses from any department during fall and/or spring terms.
    • Dual Enrollment students pay a reduced tuition rate of $600 per course, as well as a $20.00 administrative fee each term.  This per course rate is subject to change, based on annual review of all tuition charges and/or subsequent faculty compensation structure changes.
  2. Summer Terms:
    • A different Dual Enrollment tuition rate will be in effect during summer sessions.
      • Dual enrollment students pay a per credit (rather than per course) rate of $310, as well as a $20.00 administrative fee which covers all summer sessions.
      • This per credit rate is subject to change, based on annual review of all tuition charges and/or subsequent faculty compensation structure changes.
    • Dual Enrollment students (regardless of high school access to Running Start) may enroll in up to six credits of appropriate and available courses per summer session, and pay the reduced tuition rate and related fees.
Available is defined as a course that has space for an additional student. The Registrar's Office will determine if any special permission, course authorization, or necessary overrides will be required and will communicate directly with the department on behalf of the student. If accommodations cannot be made, the Registrar's Office will inform the student.
** A course is defined as a class identified with its own CRN (Course Registration Number); (e.g., BIOL 105 and BIOL 105L, although required to be taken together, each have a separate CRN and therefore constitute two (2) classes).
*** Appropriate courses are those without prerequisites according to the most recent University Catalogue, or those for which the student has fulfilled prerequisite requirements, as determined by the Dual Enrollment academic advisor in the Office of the Registrar.
 
  1. Accepted students may continue in the Dual Enrollment Program until graduation from high school.  Students may register for desired course/courses each semester, but apply for admission to Dual Enrollment only once.
  2. Newly accepted and returning Dual Enrollment students may only register at a designated time each semester as advertised by the start date of non-matriculated student registration each semester in the Student/Advisor Action Guide.  The Action Guide can be found under the "Important Dates and Deadlines" link on the Office of the Registrar web site at www.gonzaga.edu/registrar.
  3. The Office of the Registrar will send registration information prior to the start of each term.  Registration will take place via email.
  4. All Dual Enrollment registrations must take place through the Office of the Registrar.  Dual Enrollment students may not approach individual professors or other University personnel to attempt to use the “Add/Drop” or “Course Authorization” processes to gain entrance to any course.
  5. Dual Enrollment students have the library and activity privileges of part time students.
  6. Students are assigned to the Associate Registrar/Director of Operations for academic advising for the Dual Enrollment Program. The Office of the Registrar is responsible for registering Dual Enrollment students and will contact students after admission to the program.
  7. Dual Enrollment students may apply for regular admission to 91³Ô¹ÏÍø University. 91³Ô¹ÏÍø University utilizes the Common Application (www.commonapp.org) and has a First-Year Early Application deadline of November 15 and a Regular Decision deadline of February 1. Early Action decisions will be released in late December and Regular Decisions will be released in early March. Completed applications include an updated high school transcript, optional ACT or SAT test scores, teacher recommendation, School Report, essay, and a list of activities/awards.  The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) should be submitted if consideration for need-based financial aid is desired.
 
Dual Enrollment students are required to complete the New Student Health Clearance process in the secure online portal before starting classes. The Health Clearance includes a mandatory immunization requirement and the completion of an online meningitis acknowledgment.  New students will receive an e-mail with additional instructions after they register for classes.
