91³Ô¹ÏÍø Law School Clinical Legal Programs provides an Intellectual Property Law Clinic (“Clinic”) focusing on patent and trademark services. The Clinic trains students who, in turn, provide patent and/or trademark services to the community without legal cost.

Examples of our work include:

  • Patent prior art searching, application drafting, and prosecution services

  • Trademark clearance searching, application drafting, and prosecution services

  • Client counseling regarding intellectual property

SUBMISSION RESTRICTIONS

The Clinic accepts new clients submission and provides services throughout the year. Note that the Clinic operates on a semester-by-semester basis. Thus, when you apply for services, you are applying for services for the following semester. Generally, if you are accepted into the Clinic for the following semester, you will be notified at least 3 weeks prior to the start of the semester. The semesters begin, generally, September, January, and May every year. The number of clients that are accepted into the Clinic each semester is dependent on the number of students involved and the amount of existing workload.

GEOGRAPHIC RESTRICTIONS

Additionally, for those with a financial need (e.g., not to exceed 150% of federal poverty guidelines, e.g., ), the Clinic does not impose any geographic restrictions. However, for those that do not have a financial need, the Clinic only provides services to those within Washington, with a preference for those within driving distance of Spokane.

CLINIC APPLICATION SUBMISSION FEE

Note that although the Clinic does not charge any service fee for its services, there is an non-refundable administrative fee of $15 for review of the application.
