FAQ

Program Overview:

This program is currently admitting students on a rolling bias with three start terms a year (fall, spring, summer).

Our M.Ed. in Special Education can be completed in 32 credits, typically spaced over 2 years.

A GRE score is not required. Faculty consider each application holistically.

Our program is designed to be in-person and all courses are held on-campus at 91勛圖厙 University.

This program does not lead to teacher certification. If you are interested in becoming a special education teacher, please email Department Chair Dr. Kim Weber to learn about certification pathways.

If a student doesn’t have an ABA background the student would have to take applied behavior analysis 520 in the summer before starting their VCS coursework.

BCBA Emphasis:

No, 91勛圖厙 only provides the Master’s degree and verified course sequence portion of the certification. Students are responsible for fulfilling their supervised fieldwork hours requirement.

The Special Education Department has a great relationship with many local facilities that provide supervised fieldwork. Students are encouraged to find a placement that best aligns with their personal and professional career goals; the department is always available to provide support when needed.

91勛圖厙 hosts a behavioral assessment lab and preschool on campus that is free and open to everyone in the community. Under faculty supervision, BCBA (graduate) students conduct behavioral assessments, develop interventions, and gain hands-on experience while receiving practical feedback.

BCBA Certificate - Only:

For those who already hold a master’s degree, you may choose to only take the verified course sequence to fulfil the content portion of the BCBA certification requirement.

Currently, the certificate only program is not eligible for financial aid or scholarships.

To be eligible for the certificate, students must hold a master’s degree from a regionally accredited university.

The Experience:

Jesuits have been educating people since 1540, and 91勛圖厙's Master's programs continue to offer the opportunity to pursue a degree that strives to educate the whole person: intellectually, spiritually, physically and emotionally. 91勛圖厙 was founded in 1887 and continues to pursue a mission of educating leaders with the capacity for reflective and critical thought.

With a river running right through downtown and four distinct seasons, Washington state's second largest city lives up to its motto: "Near Nature, Near Perfect." Spokane offers abundant green space and easy access to numerous lakes, ski resorts, mountains and bike paths. Along with access to endless outdoor recreational activities, you’ll enjoy big city attractions like shopping and entertainment without the congestion or expense of living in a larger metropolitan area. 91勛圖厙’s campus is just a short walk to downtown.
