I got to do a little reading over the holiday week with two of my favorite people on the planet. The “Dear God Kids” book series helps to answer the very hard and sometimes complex questions children may ask about God. The answers are written to help not only children but adults as well, to understand these puzzling questions. The series is originated and authored by Annie Fitzgerald.
The last page of the most recent book we read really resonated with me (Sam and Charley too as they were dealing with withdrawals of Christmas being “over”) and I want to share it with each of you, in particular this line: “Every morning when you push the covers back, you’re ripping the wrapper off a shiny new present, a day not quite like any you’ve ever lived before or like any you’ll live again.”
As we approach the end of 2023 and the newness of 2024, please carry with you our gratitude for helping make each new day possible for thousands of GU students….“full of all-new things for you to do, to learn, to enjoy.” These students carry with them the promise of your belief in them and the responsibility that comes with being part of this community forged by being people with and for others. As we embrace the first day of 2024…..we are incredibly grateful for the way each of you lead and set the tone for our community. Thank you.
PS – From our colleagues in Mar/Comm….enjoy the – enjoy!
