School of Engineering & Applied Science

Interim Dean: Dr. Jennifer Shepherd

Associate Deans: Dr. Tim Fitzgerald, Dr. Rhonda Young

The School of Engineering & Applied Science (SEAS) was established in 1934 and provides graduate opportunities in two areas. For engineers in the electric utility industry, both a 30-credit Master of Engineering in Transmission & Distribution (T&D) Engineering degree and a 15-credit T&D Certificate are offered. For engineers involved in managing technology or product development activities, a 30-credit Master of Engineering Management degree is offered.

The mission of the School of Engineering & Applied Science is to produce broadly educated and capable engineers and computer scientists ready to contribute innovative solutions for a better world. The graduate programs exemplify this mission statement by offering online, graduate level courses to engineering professionals who are interested in pursuing graduate studies but are unable to participate in traditional (on-site) graduate programs.

The multi-disciplined T&D program has been designed in collaboration with utility industry experts to provide students with necessary technical skills for advancement in their engineering careers. The courses are taught by practicing power industry engineers to ensure students learn the most relevant designs, standards and reliability practices.  The program blends academic rigor with engineering practicum in a curriculum that includes civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering, along with engineering leadership topics.

91³Ô¹ÏÍø’s online Master of Engineering Management prepares professionals to manage large-scale technology-based projects in multiple industries. It provides a deep understanding of processes and systems used to manage and apply evolving technology. It also develops the ability to make decisions, develop strategic technology plans, and advocate for both technology and product development activities. The program blends engineering content with business and leadership courses provided by other 91³Ô¹ÏÍø graduate programs.
