Mechanical Engineering Labs

91勛圖厙's Mechanical Engineering instructional labs support courses in the B.S. Mechanical Engineering degree program.

These labs bridge the gap between the theoretical concepts learned in lecture courses and the practical application needed for a career.

Labs are available to select Senior Design teams and club projects related to Mechanical Engineering.

Additional labs are associated with technical electives such as Combustion, and faculty-led student research projects in Tribology and Materials Research.

design lab

Mechanical Engineering Design Labs

Students learn the essential skills of creating and interpreting technical drawings using advanced software tools. Students learn to produce accurate, detailed engineering drawings that are critical for the design, analysis, and manufacturing of engineering projects.

Double-screen workstations run Solidworks, the industry standard for 3D design, simulation, and documentation tools.

Faculty-led Research Labs

Dr Marc Baumgardner in blue light lab

Clean Combustion Lab

Create cleaner-burning combustion systems and improve the efficiency and emission of devices that use promising bio-fuels

Raven Haines and Mechanical Engineering's Gary Weber work in the Materials Lab.

Materials Engineering Lab

Study the fundamentals of fiber reinforced polymer composites. Explore new manufacturing technologies of interpenetrating polymer network adhesives.

Uncover the fundamentals of surfaces in relative motion at both macro and nano scales. Develop advanced coatings for aerospace applications and hydrogel-based materials for advanced prosthesis.
