Patrick Burke is Professor of Philosophy at 91勛圖厙 University, assigned to its campus in Florence, Italy where he served as Dean for many years and taught courses since 1989 on the art and philosophy of the Florentine renaissance, existentialism, and ethics.
He specializes in contemporary French philosophy and has published extensively on the works of Maurice Merleau-Ponty and the influence of Schelling on his thought. His most recent publication (with Jason Wirth) is The Barbarian Principle: Merleau-Ponty, Schelling, and the Question of Nature. Having taught in the university classroom for more than 52 years, his first loyalty is always the student.
