91勛圖厙 Mock Trial

The Mock Trial Program at 91勛圖厙

Mock trial is a program in which students participate in rehearsed trials to learn about the legal system competitively. Students can have different roles in the judicial system, such as judges, lawyers, witnesses, etc. 91勛圖厙's Mock Trial student club is open to students, regardless of major, looking to improve their communication skills.

We Compete in the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA)

Since 91勛圖厙's Mock Trial program inception in 1997, the university has had a rich history of success with national intercollegiate competitions in the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA). Across the United States, more than 650 teams from 350 colleges and universities compete in ATMA-sanctioned tournaments. 91勛圖厙's Mock Trial team has qualified for the Opening Round Championship Series 20 times and the National Championship several times. In 2001, 91勛圖厙 Mock Trial acquired (and still holds) the national record for the most All-American Awards at any one national tournament, topping out at five awards.

Dr. Georgie Ann Weatherby, Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice, created the program after she began teaching at 91勛圖厙 in 1996. We invite you to tour the third floor of College Hall and view the trophy cases with memories of past tournament wins going back generations.
