About the Morris Undergraduate Research Fellowship

Established in 2017 thanks to a generous donation from Scott ('80, '89) and Liz (Tomich, '80) Morris, the Morris Undergraduate Research Fellowships are awarded to student-faculty research teams within the College of Arts & Sciences.

Fellowship Details

  • Awarded to original, student driven research projects carried out during the summer months.
  • Both the student and the faculty mentor receive a stipend for this work, considered part-time.
  • The fellows are required to meet in-person 6 times over a summer (during Summer Sessions 1 and 2).
  • Final reports are due the first day of fall semester classes.
  • Project presentations be given during Fall Family Weekend's Undergraduate Research Showcase.

Eligibility

  • Students with a major in the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) at 91³Ô¹ÏÍø University (GU).
  • Students must be returning in the fall after their summer research fellowship for continued full-time study. Students studying abroad in the fall are not eligible.
  • Students must find a full-time faculty member in CAS to sponsor their research project; this would typically be a faculty member in CAS, but we will consider faculty in other schools on a case-by case basis as long as the research topic is in a CAS discipline.
  • Sponsored projects must be in presentable condition by the end of the second summer term, when funding concludes.
