Thoughts & Prayers for Those Affected by the LA Wildfires

January 17, 2025

Dear 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Community:

Forty-two years ago, the King Holiday Bill was signed into law establishing the third Monday in January as a federal holiday to honor the life of Reverand Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  While Dr. King’s untimely death denied the world further opportunity to bear witness to his courageous example, this day provides us the opportunity to reflect back on his enduring legacy and the impacts that his tireless work championing social justice and equality continue to have on our world.

As one of the most respected and honored leaders in the civil rights movement, Dr. King questioned the norm, challenging our country to think differently and each of us to act as agents of change.  It was through his vision of what our nation could be that he modeled, through both words and actions, a world of justice, free from racism and dedicated to true equality for all.

There are many ways to celebrate the work of Dr. King and his legacy both on campus and in our broader Spokane community:
