Honoring Our Veterans

November 11, 2024

Dear 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Community:

Each year, on November 11, communities come together to recognize and honor our nation’s Veterans. While just one day in a year, Veterans Day affords us the opportunity to express gratitude and appreciation, reflecting on the sacrifices made by our Veterans and their families in service of our country.

In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as Armistice Day and in 1954 it was renamed Veterans Day. That same year, President Dwight D. Eisenhower issued the first Veterans Day Proclamation, providing a proper observance to join in the common purpose of honoring our Veterans who responded to the call when asked to serve and protect their country.

Within 91³Ô¹ÏÍø University, we have a strong community of Veteran students, faculty, staff and administrators who exemplify what it means to be persons for and with others. May we always remember those who served in the armed forces of our nation, placing country above self.

Each Veterans Day, the Transfer Veteran Returning Adult Services (TVRAS) Office provides many opportunities to recognize and support our current military and Veteran students. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to our colleagues in TVRAS supporting our Veteran students’ transition to civilian life and giving us channels to express our gratitude.

Today, let us keep our Veterans, their families, and all those who support them in our minds and hearts. May they forever feel the gratitude of the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Community, knowing that we are thankful for their service.

With deepest gratitude,
