Video Message from President McCulloh: Safety Tonight As We Celebrate Men's Basketball

April 5, 2021

Dear 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Students:

It’s an incredible day to Be a Zag. This evening, in Indianapolis, our 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Men’s Basketball Team will be facing Baylor University in the NCAA Men’s National Championship Game. This is the second time in program history that our Men’s team has made it to the final game, and I know I am not alone when I say I am so proud of our student athletes, our Coaches and Athletics’ staff, and all of you for cheering them on.

One of the most important things that I want to share with you today is my expectation that everyone celebrate safely and legally this evening. Over this past week we saw some students exhibiting behaviors that were in direct opposition to our Student Code of Conduct as well as local laws. Each of us needs to do our part to help make this a safe and successful evening and next few days.

I ask you to:

  1. Represent 91³Ô¹ÏÍø in a positive and respectful way.
  2. Continue to practice COVID-safe behaviors by wearing masks and distancing.
  3. Additional Campus Security and Public Safety officers as well as Spokane Police Department officers will be monitoring Logan Neighborhood. Do not engage in any unlawful behaviors and do not engage yourself or others.

I have a prepared a short  that I ask that you please watch ahead of this evening’s events.

There are more celebrations to come, and this is our chance to show the world that we are a community that takes care of one another.

Go Zags!

Sincerely yours,

Thayne M. McCulloh, D.Phil.
President
