Reading Groups

Reading groups vary in topic and duration with an emphasis on texts that address contemporary questions pertinent to 91³Ô¹ÏÍø’s mission as a Catholic, Jesuit, humanistic university. Past groups have explored topics such as: integral ecology & creation care, racial justice and Catholicism, colonization and Christianity, and Ignatian Spirituality.

Unsettling the Mission with the Office of Tribal Relations

Engaging, thoughtful, and imaginative conversations between faculty, staff, and students that critically engage 91³Ô¹ÏÍø’s mission.

 

Socials

Opportunities for faculty and staff to gather outside of regular work and departmental patterns. Offered bimonthly in various campus locations.

Faculty Writing Retreat

In support of faculty as teacher-scholars, this four-day, three-night retreat is largely unstructured to prioritize time for writing, research, creative pursuits, reflection and rest. An opening and closing session as well as daily communal dinners provide rich opportunities for conversation and relationship-building. Offered annually during Spring Break.

Opportunities with Networks

As a Catholic, Jesuit university, 91³Ô¹ÏÍø is connected with several networks offering online resources, professional networks, and leadership development opportunities. The (AJCU), (ACCU), and are examples. The Vice President for Mission Integration is the main 91³Ô¹ÏÍø contact for these networks. 

Workshops and Seminars

Several workshops are offered on a regular basis. Workshops on other topics are offered on an occasional basis and by invitation.
This 3-session series explores discernment in the Ignatian tradition and the significance of discernment at a Jesuit university. With interactive elements, participants practice tools for individual and/or communal discernment. Developed and facilitated in partnership with colleagues from the College of Arts & Sciences Deans Office and Provost Office. Offered on a regular basis for mid-later career faculty and available by request for teams and departments.
 

Living the Lingo

Living the Lingo is a new series that explores different buzzwords related to mission. These interactive 50-minute Zoom sessions include background on the topic and a featured 91³Ô¹ÏÍø colleague who shares from their own experience. Topic examples include: Cura Personalis, Service of Faith & Promotion of Justice, Our Way of Proceeding, and Magis.


Leading in a Jesuit University

This half-day interactive seminar enables colleagues to learn about and integrate key aspects of the Ignatian tradition into one’s leadership at the university. Offered 4x/year (in-person and zoom) in partnership with Organizational Development.
