Essential Skills Program
This program is a unique partnership with the ZoNE based at the Northeast Community Center. Women completing the six-week series have the opportunity to engage in a three-week paid externship for a total of 60 hours that is supported through Work Source Spokane. This program strives to prepare women to enter into the workforce with knowledge of career opportunities, basic business skills, and personal confidence. 91³Ô¹ÏÍø University’s School of Leadership Studies, Center for Community Engagement, Women Lead Program, School of Business Administration, New Venture Lab, Career and Professional Development, and Religious Studies have supported the development and delivery of content for this series.
Hillyard Community Campus
The Hillyard Community Campus is an innovative educational hub for residents of Northeast Spokane based on the campus of Shaw Middle School. This “hub” has created unique physical and programmatic linkages between Spokane Public Schools, the Spokane Public Library, and Northeast Community Center. The Gathering ZoNE at the Hillyard Community Campus utilizes a collective impact model to bring partners and residents together in visioning programming and leveraging community assets that serve the needs of residents throughout Northeast Spokane. The Governance Committee for the Gathering ZoNE is chaired by the Northeast Community Center with stakeholders from across the community, including representatives from 91³Ô¹ÏÍø University.
