State Authorization & Licensure Disclosures

Many 91³Ô¹ÏÍø programs prepare students for careers that require professional licenses. Here, you'll find information and resources to confirm the program you're considering meets the licensure requirements for your state.
SARA seal

State Authorization and Distance Learning

91³Ô¹ÏÍø University is a participating member of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). Participation in SARA allows institutions to offer distance education to students outside the institution's home state.

State Licensures

Each state and territory has different professional licensure and certification requirements for certain professions. 91³Ô¹ÏÍø University works to confirm its programs meet the educational prerequisites for states outside Washington. Additional out-of-state licensure requirements may include professional examinations, fieldwork or clinical preceptorships, background checks, years of work experience, fingerprinting requirements, etc.

Students who are considering an academic program that may allow them to pursue professional licensure are strongly encouraged to check their state's or territory's requirements and contact the appropriate agency to seek information and additional guidance before beginning a program. Below you'll find a list of 91³Ô¹ÏÍø programs with the licensure determination and the contact info for the relevant agency in each state.

Potential changes in requirements: Students who plan to pursue licensure outside of Washington state should be aware that state licensure requirements are subject to changes. While a program may originally meet the educational requirements for licensure, changes in requirements could impact the program's ability to meet any new educational requirements. Students should always check with their state licensure board to confirm licensure requirements.

Important note for relocating during the course of a program: Prospective and current students should keep in mind that licensing and authorization requirements vary by state and that relocating during the course of a program to another state could impact licensure eligibility. If students are considering relocating, they should contact their degree program to check for authorization and licensure eligibility requirements.

See the degree programs below for information on professional licensure in your state.

Students graduating from 91³Ô¹ÏÍø complete the national exam, which allows them to be Nationally Certified School Psychologists. This does not mean they are automatically certified in each state, but will be able to work with their state departments of education to see which, if any, state specific requirements are present. Having the NCSP designation allows states to have a consistent understanding of the standards and coursework required.
