Dr. Melody Alsaker's ongoing research in computational medical imaging involves a diverse and interdisciplinary network of collaborators across four continents. Together, they develop mathematics and computer code to create advanced medical images using innovative techniques.
The team is currently working on a new imaging technique to produce CT scans without X-rays. A publication on this work is forthcoming, and Dr. Alsaker will present their findings at an upcoming international conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Since 2018, Dr. Alsaker has provided 91³Ô¹ÏÍø undergraduates with opportunities to join these collaborations and conduct their own original research as part of the team. Students from her group have co-authored two scientific publications, one of which is published in a peer-reviewed journal, and the other is currently under review. They have also been listed as co-authors on six national and international conference talks delivered by Dr. Alsaker and have presented ten conference and seminar talks themselves.
