Choosing Your Major
Did you know that each year 20-50% of students who enter college for the first time are undecided on a major? Did you know that 75% of students will change their major at some point during their college career?
While some students come to college knowing exactly what major they would like to pursue, there are a lot of students who come in still undecided. One of the amazing things about being a Zag is the ability to explore your options while at GU, especially if you are undecided. 91³Ô¹ÏÍø offers over 75 different academic programs to choose from. While exploring different majors, 91³Ô¹ÏÍø encourages students to find what they are passionate about. This helps students not only find a fulfilling career but also find their purpose.
College is a time to ask questions and experience different things. We welcome students who are exploring and have a variety of interests! 91³Ô¹ÏÍø’s Core Curriculum is rooted in our liberal arts tradition. It is a great way for students who are still deciding to sample classes in a variety of disciplines. In addition, the core curriculum educates students in a way that fosters critical thinking and encourages students to take what they learn in the classroom and apply it in practical ways. Through service-learning courses, the Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Inquiry, and programs like New Venture Lab, an organization that partners 91³Ô¹ÏÍø students with local businesses, students can get some hands-on experience in a variety of different fields. These hands-on experiences allow students to experience different fields and choose academic majors and minors that are the right fit for them and their future career.
There are a lot of ways for students who are still exploring to discover what they are passionate about and to assist them in finding a fulfilling career!
