Your Admission Staff's Favorite Spokane Restaurants
Aaron Danowski - Steelhead Bar & Grille
Located in downtown Spokane just steps from Riverfront Park, this casual eatery offers a variety of delicious handheld and seafood options. The atmosphere is industrial, with lots of exposed brick and rich hardwoods, and they strive to source all their ingredients locally. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu!

Alexa Salvador - d'bali Asian Bistro
This restaurant is in Airway Heights and offers an amazing variety of Southeast Asian options. The menu rotates by season so there are always new things to try! Mama Jeannie who owns and operates the restaurant is always in the kitchen. She has traveled all over the world and is happy to share her amazing stories with anyone who asks. Plus, there is a student discount and 20% of their dessert profits goes to a local animal shelter! I highly recommend the Ube Lava Cake.

Allyson Pratt - Old European
Definitely a must for breakfast! My family loves to frequent Old European the morning of big events such as High school graduation and before leaving for family vacation. They have and amazing selection of breakfast foods but my favorite is their Swedish crepes because of the deliciously sweet cream sauce that is in the middle. Other menu items that I have heard are delicious are their omelets, cinnamon rolls, and I cannot forget to mention their freshly squeezed orange juice. As a kid going to Old European and watching the machine make the orange juice was a highlight of the morning. The restaurant is about an 11 minute drive from campus down Division and is a place you wouldn’t want to miss out while your visiting Spokane!

Becky Stockton - Clinkerdagger
Clinkerdagger is the hot spot for students to take their families when they visit Spokane! It is a bit pricier, so I recommend it for special occasions. The restaurant is located in the historic Flour Mill Building right on the north banks of the Spokane River and next to the famous waterfalls. It has incredible food and views as well! You can never go wrong at Clinkerdagger.

Brittany Van Blaricom - The New 63 Social House and Eatery
The New 63 is a restaurant in downtown Spokane, located on Maine Avenue, just a few blocks from River Park Square. The building, which showcases a lot of the original structures from when it was first built in the 1930’s, was originally used as a theater and was called “The Ritz.” After a few years, the name was changed to 63 Cinema. Which is where the restaurant decided to take its name from. The New 63 has a variety of Asian inspired dishes from appetizers, rice and soba bowls, pasta, salads, and pizza. One of my favorite items on the menu is the Korean Cream Cheese bread! I have stopped by there a few times and ordered something different with each visit. The food and service were never disappointing.

Carie Weeks - Bruncheonette
Just a short walk up Monroe Street from downtown, Bruncheonette is a delicious, creative, and woman- and BIPOC-owned breakfast and brunch place. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as takeout, and have some of the friendliest and most attentive staff around. I highly recommend the vegan breakfast tacos, along with the cinnamon granola and Greek yogurt. Everyone raves about their coffee in reviews, but, since I only drink tea, I have to say, it is delicious as well. Do note: they automatically add a service charge to the bill so that they can split the tips between front and back of house staff more equitably. If you get lucky, you may run into their gourmet sandwich food truck somewhere around the city.

Claire Silva - The Elk Public House
Venture to Browne's Addition in west Spokane to find The Elk. It's a little historic neighborhood with old mansions, an art museum (), several great places to eat, and more! The Elk has always been one of my favorites. For your side, get the corn pasta. If you're in the mood for other fare, there's Mexican, Italian, and pizza places around too!

Eli Jenkins - Zip's Drive In
A classic Spokane spot to get a great burger and a milkshake! Zip's has been a quintessential American drive-in since 1953, and offers any classic diner meal your heart, or stomach, may desire. Be sure to try their Corn Dog or Chicken Sandwich with a side of fries next time you visit Spokane.

Lindsey Spencer - Luna
Luna is a fun restaurant located in Spokane's South Hill neighborhood. They pride themselves on supporting the local food community, while having a fresh, delicious menu. I recently had their Summer Crab Pasta and it was incredible. Highly recommend this to any families looking for a casual, yet high-quality, atmosphere. This is a great option for a special occasion!

Nate Mannetter - South Perry Pizza
Any good restaurant has to start with delicious food and South Perry has that (make sure you order the flat bread with roasted garlic to start with). However, truly great restaurants follow through with great service and a fun atmosphere. The Perry District is a unique neighborhood in Spokane and, if you are lucky enough to be around on a Wednesday night, is also home to a fantastic farmers market. South Perry Pizza is home to amazing people and scrumptious food and is a great place to explore a neat Spokane neighborhood.

Rosa Velasco - UMI Kitchen and Sushi Bar
Spokane has a variety of popular restaurants but I'm always in the lookout for a good sushi spot and UMI Kitchen and Sushi Bar is just that. UMI is located in the Kendall Yard neighborhood; walking distance to downtown and a night stroll away from overlooking the Spokane River. The chef's at UMI have over 10 years of experience and have crafted 5-award-winning Sushi-Asian inspired restaurants in the PNW. UMI is family friendly, they have an upstairs dining room but they also have an underground lounge for special occasions. If you're feeling in the mood to try a new sushi roll, I recommend trying their "Omakase" style; a Japanese phrase that means "I'll leave it up to you." If you opt-in, the Chef will craft a unique selection of sushi for you to try. Whether you want to take-out, dine-in, or have a special occasion, UMI is the perfect sushi spot.

Sam Galluzzo - Cochinito Taqueria
Cochinito Taqueria is located downtown right on Post street and offers locally sourced food and drinks and a casual space to share a meal with friends or family! I have never had a meal that I didn't want more of, and whenever I have family in town they always ask to go. I highly recommend the 20-hour Carne Asada or Birra tacos with rice and beans!

Sandra Vance - Wooden City Spokane
Wooden City is a newer restaurant in Spokane, but it has quickly become one of my favorites! They have great pizzas, delicious pasta, and their appetizers are amazing (make sure to try the Hungarian peppers and the smoked salmon toast!). In the heart of downtown, Wooden City is a great dinner spot while you're exploring Spokane!

Theresa Howlett - Feast World Kitchen
There are many great restaurants in Spokane, but this one is my pick. It's a non-profit serving the immigrant and former refugee communities in Spokane and they offer a rotating menu, which has been created and prepared by different chefs each week. Every time we've gone, the food has been delicious, and they have a cute little outdoor patio area in the back if you want to eat there. They also offer takeout.

While this list provides a lot of great restaurants to try, know that it isn't exclusive! One of the best parts about Spokane is the strong small business community, including many incredible restaurants, many of which go unmentioned in this list. Happy eating!
