Dean Karlene A. Hoo leads SEAS

Dr. Karlene A. Hoo became the new dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science in June. At Hoo's hiring, Provost Deena J. González lauded Hoo’s scholarship, dedication, experience and expertise.

“Dr. Hoo brings a dedication to, as she says, ‘helping all faculty, students, and staff realize their full potential.’ Her devotion to this goal was palpable,” said González. 

Faculty, Tenure-Track

Dr. Kyle Shimabuku joins the Civil Engineering department as an assistant professor. His research explores water filtration and stormwater. Read more

 

Lecturers

Dr. Daniel Olivares comes to the Computer Science program from Washington State University. Read more
Bruce Worobec returns to the Computer Science program after some time teaching at the University of Washington.

 

Staff

Emily Livingston ('13, history and political science) joins the Dean's Office as the SEAS Budget & Personnel Officer and the Assistant to the Dean. She comes to SEAS from the Office of the Registrar.
