About ZagReady

Welcome to ZagReady!

Welcome to the main resource for emergency preparedness education materials for the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø University community. 91³Ô¹ÏÍø is a safe and secure campus, and natural emergencies or disasters are relatively rare occurrences in Spokane. However, there is always the possibility that a hazard, weather event, or other disaster might impact the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø community. Preparedness and planning before an event helps increase the resiliency of individuals and the campus population.

The ZagReady! program collects together resources and information to help students, staff, faculty, and community members prepare for emergency situations on campus. This is a collaborative effort with input from many different departments and experts across campus and the public safety field.  This page is under development, so check back frequently for more content and information.  Students, staff, and faculty may also wish to visit the MyGU site for more detailed information.

Protective Actions

91³Ô¹ÏÍø University embraces an all-hazards approach to emergency preparedness, which means all members of our community should be familiar with three basic protective actions that will help during any emergency or disaster situation.  These three actions are evacuation, shelter in place, and avoid the area.

Evacuation protective actions move people away from dangerous conditions or situations, and are often associated with fires or earthquakes.  Click on the 'Evacuations' link to the right for more information.

Shelter in Place protective actions move people inside to shelter during a dangerous situation. These are often for a relatively short period of time and are most commonly associated with responses to hazardous weather or chemical exposures.

Avoid the Area protective actions are used to close part or all of the Campus and minimize access to dangerous situations. This may include sending individuals home or to off-site shelter locations.

Medical Emergencies

This section provides important information about what to do before, during, and after medical emergencies you may encounter on campus. This includes information for you as a bystander, or if you experience the emergency yourself. This section also contains information on where to find resources for CPR, AED, and first aid training.

Lockdown/Run, Hide, Fight

This section contains information on how to protect yourself when you encounter individuals armed with weapons and intent on inflicting violence. These behaviors build on the basic protective actions covered earlier, and include some important specific information.

Hazard Specific Resources

Although 91³Ô¹ÏÍø University embraces an all-hazards approach to emergency preparedness, it is useful to have specific information about hazards.
